Parenting

Issues relating to the children that usually need to be addressed include the following:
  • Who will have the major decision making power with respect to health, education, religion and other aspects of the child or children’s overall well being.
  • The residential arrangements for the children on weekdays, weekends and holidays
  • Mobility rights of the parents
  • Vacations allowed with the children
The amount of detail required in the Parenting Agreement will often depend on the level of conflict or cooperation between the parents. Where conflict is low and the priority of the children is recognized by both parents, parents will often resolve parenting issues on their own with little or no intervention from their lawyers or mediator.

I have found over the years that difficult parenting issues are often best resolved with the assistance of parenting mediators with mental health expertise.
